Preceding Woolworth was the Ouster Loaf. At age 5 or 6 I had a little misunderstanding with the waitress at the lunch counter. I wanted a hamburger and egg salad. "A hamburger and egg salad sandwich?", ask the waitress. "No, egg salad!", said I. When Mom made potato salad, it was at least half egg, and that is what I thought I would get.

Pat - Love your story. Yes, I remember the Oyster Loaf. We used to go there from time-to-time.
Oh, how I miss Woolworth's! The hot turkey sandwiches...the candy counter...the endless selection of toys...the cute parakeets in the lower level!
Jackie - Yum, hot turkey sandwiches at Woolworth’s.
