I Love this issue, M&M - I also love that so many subdivisions named their streets after a single category. Here in Turnagain ( which I’ve been told, was the first subdivision in Anchorage- maybe even Alaska), l live on Redoubt Ct. Redoubt is connected to Douglas Dr, and Foraker- all mountains, volcanoes or glaciers. It also reminded me of a favorite art student from my first year teaching at West High in Anchorage. Debbie, was the daughter of one of the principals at West. She went on the work at the agency responsible for mapping vast areas of the state, and was given the job of naming a myriad of tiny lakes across the inlet sometime in the early 70s. That is why there are lakes named Tigger and Pooh. And, somewhere in that area of a zillion little lakes there is a “Lake Pendleton”. 😊

Cindy - Love "Lake Pendleton"... Yes, Turnagain, the first subdivision in Anchorage, was created by Muktuk Marston. Thank you for your comment.

Lived on Galewood St. in Rogers Park in the Fifties. Found out the developer of Rogers Park had a daughter Gale and a son Glen thus Galewood St. and Glenwood St. Went to Lake Otis School when it opened in 1956. It was on Lake Otis Road. When and why did it become Lake Otis Parkway?

Joe - Thank you for the background about the Rogers Park street names. Good question about Lake Otis Parkway -
