In the early 70s the rhythm section of the Dimond High School stage band formed a band. Because we all could read music we learned all of our cover songs very quickly. And our rehearsals were very efficient. Our band's name was "Wildrift." We worked every weekend. All the teen clubs on base and in Anchorage and Eagle River.
Of course everybody remembers PROOF, and I recall a band named PRIDE. Also I recall POWDERKEG. Franklin Freight Train also comes to mind.
Steve - Thank you sharing this story. I hadn't heard of Wildrift. I played first chair, first trumpet in the East High Symphonic Band, so I can relate. And thank you for the other band names you mentioned.

A good time was had by all. Plus we got paid.
